Every IP lookup now returns connection.is_anycast, a boolean telling you whether an address is announced simultaneously from multiple locations around the world. Anycast is the routing technique behind public DNS resolvers, content delivery networks and DDoS mitigation platforms, which steer every user to their nearest site. Look up 8.8.8.8 and the field comes back true.

An anycast address has no single physical location, so its geolocation deserves caution. The flag gives you the context to lower confidence on those ranges, recognize resolvers and CDN edges in your logs and analytics, and avoid false impossible-travel signals when you score traffic.
